Home Spirituality

Spirituality as the name suggests, pertains to the spirit. Where does this spirit stay? When we are awake, our spirit stays in the point between our eye brows. In our dream state this spirit stays in our throat. In the sleep state, our spirit stays in the heart. We need to realise this spirit, the characteristics of this spirit and truely follow them by tuning our mind, conscience with that of the spirit to become spiritual.

Now the next question arises, "What is this mind and the conscience?"

The mind and the conscience are the basic software of a human being or any living animal. However, we are only resting our discussion on human beings.

Mind creates. That means, if there is any vibration, which is otherwise termed as a creation is due to the mind. In vedas mind is known as manas and its definition is written as "Sankalpa Vikalaatmak Manah".  This mind is projected outwards.

Now let me tell you about the conscience. It is the judging power present in us. The conscience stands as a link or an interface between the mind and the spirit.

Mind is absorbed in the conscience and the conscience is absorbed in the spirit. The human being usually operates from the mind. No one ever asks the conscience before doing any work. However, there are some intelligent individuals, who due to their strong background of efforts (sadhana),  ensures inspiration of the conscience in each and every activity that is guided by the mind. Such people are termed as Sthita Prajnyas. The accepted meaning of Sthita Prajnya is 'immovable in dualities i.e. immovable in sorrow or in happiness'. Having the ispiration from the spirit needs constant efforts for many many years. These people can only be termed as spiritual.

Now the next question comes as, "Can I become spiritual?"

And if so, "Then what are needed to be done to attain spirituality?"

The third question will be, "Is it possible to resort to the prescribed guidelines to become spiritual in a one life-time?"

Let me answer one by one:

Q1. Can I become spiritual?

Answer: Can you keep silence for a long time? If so, then you can become spiritual for sure.

Q2.What should be done to attain spirituality?

Do your duties as an offering to God. Do not bother about success or failure. Work towards success with sincerity and perfectness. Success will ensue.

Leave that quality: enviousness. Ask a question to yourself, are you becoming envious? Is so, just pray God and ask him to take out this bad quality from you. Slowly, you will leave this quality.

We have to become ego-less.  How is this possible?

We know that ego in a human being is like the white in the milk.  The colour of the milk turns grayish if we heat it in fire for a longer time. So we are basically like a charcoal. We need to become diamond by burning ourselves. This is the way, we can get rid of the ego. Let me give you an example here. If you are a poet, are you like Ravindranath Tagore. If you are a scientist, are you like Einstein. If you are a singer, are you like Latamangeskar. So once we compare ourselves to some great persons in a particular sphere where we have excelled, then our ego will vanish slowly.
